So begins The Aaron Paul Fan Chats series! Even before we launch this website we know there will be some who just look at us blankly and ask ‘why are you doing this?’ It’s likely not a question we will ever be able to answer, but will endeavor to produce a website that is simply a nice place to visit if you share the mutual appreciation of one Aaron Paul.
Whilst we can’t answer the why, we will look to give you some insight into our own take on fandom and our idol, with some sit downs where we just ask each other questions and then record them here for your (hopefully) enjoyment, to get to know us both a little better (maybe…).
As always, keep in mind that I (Jilbo) message APFC- Carol in English, she translates into Portugese, then responds in Portuguese to be translated into English… most of the time 😉
JILBO – so starters… can you name the moment you realised you were now a fan of Aaron Paul? Was it gradual or immediate?
APFC- Carol– It was gradual, after watching BrBa I got really excited about AP’s energy, and started going in search of more info about him. And the charm was happening little by little.
JILBO – Same, it was gradual. Probably once I got into season two of Breaking Bad I realised I’d stopped rooting so much for Walter White, and Jesse was now my focus of concern. Once they started giving Jesse more of the story to play with, that changed the dynamics and gave AP a lot more to do, and he started to shine.
JILBO – We both only recently discovered breaking bad, to finally actually watch it – were you aware of Aaron Paul before you sat down to watch it?
APFC- Carol – As a teenager I watched the movie “Running back” AP played Floyd. But no, when I started BrBa Aaron was a happy surprise.
JILBO – Ah ‘Whatever it Takes’ – I didn’t know that had another title, that film totally passed me by when it came out I must admit.
APFC- Carol– I think here in Brazil they changed the name
JILBO – I had watched Need for Speed, I’m also a fan of Rami Malek so watched it for him shortly after I had met him. I always felt it was better than that other car franchise as I appreciated the non CGI stunts but I tend to not really notice the leading actors which is my only explanation for not spotting Aaron Paul sooner! lol! I obviously now adore Need for Speed even more.. lol
APFC- Carol – Need for speed was the second work by Aaron that I watched, then came The Path, and then I didn’t stop.
APFC- Carol – When you became a fan of Aaron Paul what was the first thing you found out about him?
JILBO – Whenever an actor gets my attention it’s always ‘what else has he been in, have I seen it?’ so I’d have been on IMDb straight away lol
APFC- Carol – I did a google search looking for his other work.
JILBO – I remember reading early on that he was 4 weeks premature, as I was also 4 weeks premature so that was probably the first non-actory thing I found out that stuck
APFC- Carol – One thing that caught my attention about him was the fact that so young he was already sure of what he wanted, and went to an unknown place, in search of his dream…. His story of sleeping in the closet every other week, me made me laugh a lot.
JILBO – that story is incredible, I’m the wrong side of 40 and still don’t know what I want to do with my life – just kinda making it up as a I go along so I totally admire the fact he had such a determined plan and followed it through at such a young age!
APFC- Carol – He was brave and determined!
JILBO – What is your favourite AP work outside of Breaking Bad? What have you re-watched most often?
APFC- Carol – I like everything, I can’t choose a single work. I see so much dedication in everything he does, that for me everything is perfect.
JILBO – I can’t argue with that, totally agree.
APFC- Carol- What qualities do you most admire in AP?
JILBO – There are many many examples where people who know him or have worked with him can’t say enough nice things about who he is as a person, they enjoy being around him and that’s somethiing to admire about a person, especially in the business he’s in
APFC- Carol – I think his kindness, charisma… so many things I’ve researched, read and never heard a single person say negative things about him.
JILBO – Thats so true, never a bad word and thats pretty rare. I do enjoy reading in particular Bryan Cranston talking about AP, because whilst he is respectful for the most part, he seems to just enjoy the spirt AP has to the point of mocking him – I love those moments
APFC- Carol – The moments with Bryan are amazing, I love seeing the two of them together. And I like it even more when Aaron starts saying nice things about Bryan, and he just gets distracted and leaves AP in the void. I love the spontaneity of these two.
JILBO – I could watch the two of them talk forever, wish they did more zooms or video chats! When Bryan woke Aaron up that time on Instagram live, I saw that play out live and it was hilarious, still makes me smile now – it was perfect comedy lol
APFC- Carol – When the two appear together on instagram it’s a party. The fan pages go crazy
APFC- Carol – What do you think of Aaron Paul as Husband and Father?
JILBO – He seems to have a happy life. I am a big admirer of Lauren for her work with the Kind Campaign, it’s interesting to see it in action and that it shines a light on the bullying culture thats been ignored for so long and you can’t help but enjoy the rare moments they share of their daughter. I do need to see more of him being a chicken dad though, I miss the chicken updates.
APFC- Carol – It is admiration that never ends. It’s beautiful to see his delivery to his family.
APFC- Carol – To finish… Why Aaron Paul?
JILBO – there is just something about his work, and him… proof is in this website, since we started doing this it’s given me a new energy, to relearn old skills in websites, with my learning to draw as well he was one of my chosen muses to help me learn – he’s making me rediscover skills I forgot I had and he has absolutely no idea lol! The most difficult question to answer is ‘why are we doing this’ – the only answer is ‘why not?’
APFC- Carol – Yes, for me it’s the right thing, the best moment of my day, my way of thanking him for everything he’s done without even being aware of it. Pure energy! Aaron Paul has a good and contagious energy, he is a good person, brings good feelings to my heart, it makes me feel good to have him as an idol. He deserves all my respect, admiration and all my fan love. He inspires good things
JILBO – He’s a bloody good actor as well lol
