Aaron Paul has an indisputable talent, it’s always amazing to see him acting. He can convince us of anything, such is his dedication to everything he does.
I wanted to remember everything I’ve seen so far from AP’s career, so I decided to make a sequence of posts on Instagram about his characters, and now I’m going to make those posts available here.
It was a lot of fun to put together, and the followers of the page @aaron_paul_fc interacted in the stories by answering polls.
For 12 days, fans chose the characters that they wanted to be the theme for the next day’s post.
I wish I could talk about all the characters because HAPPILY Aaron Paul has an extensive resume, but this idea was to make people choose their favourites between one character, or another.
Not all polls were easy, and it’s hard to ask fans to choose between their idol’s different characters, it’s like asking to choose between one child or another, or between the mother and the father.
Many amazing characters were sadly left out, but they will certainly be the subject of future posts both here, and on Instagram.
But for now I’m going to leave you here with the results of those 10 days of posts, below are the results of the polls and the posts with the chosen ‘winning’ characters.
Day 1 – Eddie Lane vs Caleb Nichols
Aaron Paul gave life to Eddie Lane in the series The Path, the show was created by Jessica Goldberg, had 3 seasons, the first had its premiere in March 2016, and the other two seasons in the following two years. There were 36 episodes over the three years.
The Path addresses the lives of a group of people who have an unshakable faith and who live under the doctrine of a cult – or movement called Meyerism.
Eddie Lane has a rebellious and tragic past, his brother committed suicide, and he was converted to Meyerism.
Eddie is married to Sara and the father of two children Hawk and Summer. All of them are members of the Meyerist Movement.
After spending time in a retreat in order to advance further on the spiritual ladder of Meyerism he suffers a crisis of faith and everything he has always accepted as truth is put in doubt and he starts to question his faith in the Movement.
Each episode takes a deeper look at what it means to choose between the life we live and the life we want.
Few things are as powerful as a person’s belief, so it’s interesting to follow this whole faith/suspension of faith storyline and how it results in the characters’ life choices and their consequences.
Interesting Fact: Many said Aaron was too young to play Eddie Lane, said it was hard to believe he could have a grown son and all the backstory hinted at. I confess that when I started watching the series I also thought something like that, but Aaron did such an impeccable performance, he was excellent as Eddie Lane, and I really believed that he could be inserted in all that context.
The Path was one of Aaron’s first works that I watched after Breaking Bad. And it’s definitely one of my favorites.
Day 2 – Caleb Nichols vs Warren Cave
Westworld is a series that was created by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, premiered on October 2, 2016 on HBO, after that came the second and third seasons and on the 26/6th, the fourth season premiered.
The story takes place in Westworld, a technologically advanced theme park that simulates the Old West and is populated by synthetic androids dubbed “hosts”, these can be reused without further consequences, as they are androids. Visitors can do whatever they want inside the park, without following rules or laws and without fear of retaliation from the hosts.
However, when a system update on the machines goes wrong, their behavior begins to suggest a new threat.
Aaron Paul gave life to Caleb Nichols from the third season, he lives in futuristic world, he is an army veteran, tries to earn an honest living as a construction worker working alongside his robot George.
Caleb is always trying to change his routine but he can’t, and maybe there’s a reason for that. The “hosts” (androids) will realize how humans are also trapped in these endless cycles.
There is a dark side that the system tries to hide, it involves stealing the privacy of humans. And at a certain point in the story Caleb joins another character and together they start a “war” to try to end it all.
With the fourth season I believe we will get to know a little more about this character full of mystery and discover what is in store for Caleb in the fight against the robot revolution.
Day 3 – Adam vs Hollis Wilson
Hellion is a film by Kat Candler and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2014.
Aaron Paul brilliantly plays the troubled Hollis Wilson, a man who has lost his wife and has to take care of two young children. But he can’t handle taking care of the kids, leaving the house in chaos and indulging in drinking.
His eldest son ends up following the path of delinquency, joins other rebellious boys and goes out breaking everything at night. Wes the younger brother looks up to his brother and wants to follow in his footsteps.
Welfare services get involved, and Hollis is forced to deal with the situation.
I particularly found this film very engaging, because it shows the reality of many families.
We shouldn’t judge anyone, labeling “good or bad”, sometimes, certain situations that lead the individual to act in a way they actually don’t want to.
Thinking about Hollis’ story: He didn’t know how to deal with his wife’s death and he felt guilty for her death, and it left him completely unstructured, and his actions reflected on his children who were just children.
Would Hollis be a good father in another context?
And what about AP’s performance?
Simply a spectacle, he gave so much truth to Hollis, made me obsessed with the movie from start to finish.
Day 4 – J.J. vs Charlie Hannah
The movie A long way down is a comedy-drama based on the book of the same name by British pop culture writer Nick Hornby, “A Long Way Down”.
The film tells the story of four strangers who plan to jump together from the same building on New Year’s Eve. They form a kind of troubled family and decide they have six weeks to find legitimate reasons to stay alive.
Aaron Paul plays J.J., he is a former member of a band but is depressed when he sees his dream of being a rocker reduced to pizza delivery. And when he meets his three new acquaintances who, like him, are suicidally depressed, he lies that he is terminally ill with cancer.
I really liked A Long way down, it’s a film that moves, has a comic lightness and at the same time addresses an arduous topic.
Sometimes what is a problem for the other is not for us and that’s why we must always be kind, because we never know what our neighbor is going through. Empathy isn’t just a fancy word they put on the dictionary.
The film, in addition to being a delight to watch, leaves a soft but important reflection on the art of existence.
And for the performance of my dear idol I give it 1000!
Day 5 – Tobey Marshall vs David
Need For Speed is an adaptation of the popular Need for Speed video game series by Electronic Arts, written by George Gatins and John Gatins. The film was released in March 2014.
Aaron Paul is the protagonist and lives Tobey Marshall, owner of a garage that modifies expensive cars, and he is also an illegal racing driver, was wrongfully convicted of the death of his best friend.
Two years later, finally released from prison, he sets out on a revenge mission against the one who accused him of a crime he didn’t commit.
The film brings real speed, danger, action, a little humor and a lot of Aaron Paul.
Our idol appears practically throughout the whole story, and he is so beautiful in this film, once again AP’s impeccable performance.
Dia 6- The Man x Peter
The Parts You Lose is a drama/thriller
which had its world premiere in March 2019. Screenplay by Darren Lemke.
The film’s story is told from the perspective of a hearing-impaired boy, he observes the details of the world from his silence.
Aaron Paul plays The Man, a fugitive from the Police. During a shooting he was wounded and it is from there that an unlikely friendship between a boy and a criminal begins.
The man guides Wesley on how to deal with the problems he has at home with his father and with the bullying he suffers at school, and a bond ends up being born.
The film focuses on the relationship between its characters, and that is so incredible and at the same time shocking when we see the dangerous loyalty between a child and a fugitive.
Forgetting a little about the dangerous side of a relationship between a child and a fugitive from the police, what I absorbed from this movie was that we can create connection with people we want to imagine, and who can have affection, friendship, loyalty between two people who are completely different from each other. And the beautiful thing about life is that, finding people who can make a difference in our lives. ?
Just a note: As a mother I would never approve or understand a connection / friendship like the one that the movie portrays, but I am completely open to the new, I think we should leave our hearts open for those who want to enter, and leave the will for those who want to leave. , and only those who are really special will remain.
And that’s why I like this film so much, it makes us reflect on the importance and difference that a person can make in our lives, and of course the performance of my dear idol AP… It’s so nice to see him acting.
Day 7- Cameron vs Bryan
During every day I was completely neutral during the polls, any character chosen would be fantastic. But I confess that during this particular poll I was in the crowd for Prince Cameron. And apparently most people sympathize with him.
Let’s go… The film Parents and daughters had its premiere in 2015, director Gabriele Muccino.
Fathers and Daughters tells a story that involves family and personal dramas. The film tells the story of a father who had difficulties taking care of his daughter for health reasons, the effects of which will reverberate throughout Katie’s (daughter) life. If you haven’t watched it yet, be sure to check it out, it’s a very beautiful story. Available on Amazon Prime.
Aaron Paul plays a secondary character, but he is present in a beautiful way in the film. He gives life to Cameron a sensitive, cool young writer who falls in love with Katie.
But given her troubled past under her father’s care, and the scars it has left on her personality, Katie, although she has feelings for Cameron, can’t seem to let go of this relationship…
Cameron as I said above is a prince, that guy capable of making any girl fall in love. He is loving, kind and beautiful too. A dream of consumption. (That’s my take on the character).
Every girl should have a Cameron. do you agree?
Day 8- Floyd vs Jonathan Wharton
Whatever It Takes is a young romantic comedy, it was released in March 2000. Screenplay: Mark Schwahn.
The film talks about two boys, one shy and the other the most popular in school. In love with two girls, they team up in order to conquer the girls of their dreams.
Aaron Paul is not the main character, but for me by far his character was the best in the movie.
Floyd is a boy who just wants to be popular, noticed and wants to be successful with girls, his character is interesting enough to hold attention and make us have a few laughs.
Aaron was 19 years old, it was at the very beginning of his career and if you haven’t watched it yet, I recommend you watch it, not because of the movie’s history, but it’s worth it to see Aaron Paul especially at the beginning of his career and being the best thing about the movie.
This movie is now available on Netflix.
22 years after the premiere of this film we can see how much our idol has evolved and it’s good that many other works came after that and luckily we were able to follow his admirable trajectory. Congratulations AP you are really amazing!!
Did Aaron Paul in the year 2000 imagine that in the year 2022 he would be the star he is today?
Day 9 – Paul vs Chris
American Woman is a film by Brad Ingelsby, a drama that premiered at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.
The film explores Debra’s drama, and begins with the disappearance of her daughter. And she goes on for 11 years in her search for answers. In that time, she needs to raise her grandson, mature, seek a better life, give love a chance.
Aaron Paul gives life to Chris, he meets Debra in the course of the film, and the two end up getting married.
Chris is the perfect man, charming, wooing, companion, good husband. He gives Debra a new perspective when it comes to love. After a long time she feels that she can finally be happy with someone who respects her and is always by her side. ?
Chris was all good… But too good to be true.
If you haven’t watched it yet, watch it and draw your own conclusions.
American Woman is a story of resilience, worth checking out.
And Aaron Paul, oh my God… Aaron Paul, always my favorite!
Day 10- Steve vs Scott
Eye in the Sky was written by Guy Hibbert and had its first appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2015.
The film shows an operation to capture terrorists, military intelligence is targeting two suicide bombers, but diplomatic issues make things more complicated. A decision that goes through several paths has to be made at a fast speed with time counting against it.
The character played by Aaron Paul is Steve Watts, a military man who works as a drone pilot in a control room in the United States. Your daily mission is to fight terrorists on the other side of the world.
Steve is the pilot responsible for one of the drones that is about to be launched at the place where the two suicide bombers are, but he realizes a disturbing detail: the existence of a girl inside the demarcated zone and from there he starts to question decisions made and orders received. ?
Eye in the Sky brings tension, suspense, drama, terrorism, war, ethical conflicts, law and politics, it portrays a world problem that seems to have no truce, and makes us reflect on the judgments we often make and shows us that evil has no gender, race, religion or ethnicity.
Available on Amazon Prime, great movie and great acting by Aaron Paul. Another amazing character for our idol’s list.
Day 11 – Gabe Welch vs Phil
Triple 9 is an Action, Thriller, Crime film that was released in February 2016. Written by Matt Cook.
The film takes us to the criminal underworld, a group formed by policemen, ex-cops who begin to serve the Russian mafia.
They plan to kill a police officer by activating code 999 which is used to call for help when an agent is in danger and thus divert police attention so they have time to carry out the robbery.
Aaron Paul is Gabe, an ex-cop turned criminal. But he tries to convince the others in the group to give up on killing the agent.
Of course, once again Aaron Paul rocked his portrayal, it was incredible to see him in the shoes of Gabe Welch, but I can’t help but comment on the spectacular transformation he made to bring this character to life.
I don’t remember seeing Aaron look as different as he did in this movie. Different haircut and color, Skrillex style hairstyle, changed eye color. He really went deep for Gabe. Different but beautiful as always.
I’m suspicious, when it comes to AP I always like everything, but among so many jobs, this character is one of those hard to forget.
Dia 12 – Jesse Pinkman x Todd Chavez
I confess that when I put Todd Chavez with Jesse in the poll, I imagined it would be more disputed, since Todd is also a character very dear to everyone.
But I was completely wrong, I barely made the poll available in the stories and there Jesse was, shot in front.
Jesse Pinkman is always unanimous, I believe there is not a single person who has watched the entire history of BrBa and who does not sympathize with this charismatic character
Merit of Aaron Paul!
Jesse Pinkman forever!
Breaking Bad is a series that needs no introduction, I believe there is not a single person who is a fan of Aaron Paul and who does not know this show. But come on… it’s always good to remember and talk about the greatest series of all time.
Pretend that you still don’t know History and everything I’m going to put here is news. Combined?!
Brba premiered in 2008, 62 episodes spread over 5 seasons, a true phenomenon. Series creator: The amazing Vince Gilligan.
The series portrays the life of chemist Walter White, a brilliant but frustrated man teaching high school teenagers, at home he has to take care of them with a teenage son with paralysis, a pregnant wife and endless debt. White is then diagnosed with lung cancer. In the face of all this, he embraces a life of crime to pay his hospital debts and give his children a good life. Walter decides to produce high-purity meth with his former student, Jesse Pinkman.
Jesse Pinkman was played brilliantly by him, our favorite guy, Aaron Paul!
Jesse was essential to the narrative of Breaking Bad, and responsible for numerous comedic moments, and brought a lightness to the beginning of the series.
He’s got a good heart, he’s always kind and caring with kids, he has a genuine innocence, it’s evident with every episode that he’s the most peaceful character.
For many times following his suffering throughout the story, there was no way not to be moved by this character. Impossible not to like Jesse and not sympathize with him.
Yes, I know that he was a drug dealer, that he did not cool things, but today I decided to talk only about Jesse innocent, human and fun. (We’ll leave Jesse’s heavy side for another time).
Now I want to end by talking about the undisputed talent of Aaron Paul who with all his sensitivity managed to make Jesse one of the most charismatic characters of all time. Aaron Paul is really a complete artist and gives an acting show.
I love Jesse Pinkman and I love even more Aaron Paul who always gives himself to bring the best characters to all of us.
Our beautiful fan community
And these were the results of the polls, for two weeks on the Instagram page we talked about some Aaron Paul characters, of course we would have a subject for many other days, many amazing characters were left out.
I promise that little by little I will bring a little bit of all the work done by our idol.
Hope everyone liked it.
