Did you know that Aaron Paul has been awarded three Emmys?
But before we talk about Aaron’s Emmy story, let’s understand what a Primetime Emmy is.
Primetime Emmy Award
Emmy Awards: This is an annual event that rewards the best in North American television, plus some international awards also.
Whoever wins the Emmy Award not only takes home the recognition for the work done, but also a statuette that symbolizes the award.
The statue design is by engineer Louis McManus. The award’s name is a play on the word “immy”, a nickname given to the tubes found in the first televisions in history. And that’s where the term Emmy came from.
The Figurine is a woman holding an atom, which represents television. The piece still has wings, implying that the woman, in fact, is the muse of art.
The winners are determined in a vote held by members of the Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences of the United States. It is a very large group: in all, there are 12 thousand members, who have worked or still work in American TV.
All in all, a much sought after award among artists.
I think anyone who is a fan of Aaron Paul knows that he has taken home this hotly contested trophy three times.
But did you know that in addition to these 3 awards, our idol has been nominated a further 5 more times? That’s 8 Emmy Award nominations in total!
Aaron Paul’s Nominations
Aaron Paul is a true great, having won the award 3 times. For reasons we can not understand or accept, the other 5 times that he was nominated he didn’t take the award home – unbelievable!
Still let’s not make light of the fact he’s experienced 8 Emmy nominations! Did our idol ever imagine this could happen when he left Idaho, his hometown at the age of 17 in pursuit of his dream of being an actor?
Aaron achieved notoriety as an actor when in 2008 he first appeared on our screens as the character Jesse Pinkman, in Breaking Bad. The success was so much that the following year our idol was nominated for the first time as best supporting actor in a drama series.
Aaron was asked a lot of questions about his first Emmy nomination in 2009… See what he said at the time:
“I don’t know if I’ve actually gotten off this cloud of mine. It’s just so surreal. I don’t know. I’m kind of terrified of the carpet but I’m excited as well. Honestly, I am truly just expecting to go there and have the greatest night ever and just applaud really. I’m thrilled.”
They asked if he felt Honored to be nominated:
“You know it seems so cliché but its true! Hey, this is great. It’s so great even to be able to work in this business, but yeah, you’re absolutely right, man. I’m just excited I’m invited to the party.”
Aaron was 30 years old when he was first nominated for an Emmy, he’s come a long way, and he deserved to take the statue home, but it didn’t happen in 2009.
The other nominations were:
- 2010 Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. ✅
- 2012 Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. ✅
- 2013 Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series .?
- 2014 Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. ✅
- 2019 Best Animated Program, Executive Producer on Bojack Horseman. ?
- 2020 Best Television Film, El Camino. ?
- 2020 Best Animated Program, Executive Producer on Bojack Horseman. ?
These were Aaron’s nominations and the works he participated in. AP is an incredible professional, and he deserved every one of these nominations. He is so talented and perfect at his craft.
Our idol has so much to be proud of in his career so far, and we as fans can’t wait for his next work.
An actor, producer, voice actor and an entrepreneur, that is a lot of talent. What else could this man be capable of doing?
2010 The first win.
In 2010 Aaron Paul was nominated again for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards held at Nokia Theater L.A. Live on August 29, 2010 in Los Angeles.
And this time there was no mistake, Aaron won his first Emmy for his performance in the episode “Half Measures”. Our beautiful idol took the statuette home, not only took it home but also went to sleep with it safely by his side.
I did a lot of research in order to bring you as much information as possible. I needed to be sure of the dates and all the details so as not to pass on wrong information, and during these researches many sites said the same thing. ‘Aaron Paul became known for his particularly sincere speeches’.
There is a video that is widely publicized on all social networks, the speech that Aaron says to his partner and friend the following:
“Bryan Cranston, working with you every day is a dream – I love you brother.”
He’s so intense, I think it’s so beautiful. The delivery of the emotion in the moment in front of hundreds of people, being grateful to those who helped him and were by his side.
Aaron Paul is a man like few others.
2012 The second win
On September 23, 2012, the 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
Aaron Paul took home his second Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
He was nominated for his performance in the episode “End Times”. This time Aaron was running against his co-star Giancarlo Esposito who played Gustavo Fring, and it made him really emotional, see what he said:
“What he did with Gustavo Fring is simply impeccable; it’s so bizarre that I’m the one in front of you right now.”
“It’s unreal that I’m able to do what I’ve always dreamed of.”
He also talked about believing in his dreams:
And thanked Vince:
“Vince Gilligan and the rest of the writers, thank you so much for not killing me – that was the plan!”
In 2012 AP’s win was the only win of the night for Breaking Bad.
That year Aaron also became the youngest two-time Emmy winner for the supporting drama role of all time. He was 34 years old… 34 years of pure talent.
Our idol was on fire!
2014 The third win
The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards took place on August 25, 2014 at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
This was a special Emmy, read below to understand why:
Aaron Paul, who played Jesse Pinkman, was nominated once again for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. This became the year that Breaking Bad cleaned up in all the key categories, closing the cycle of this work with a golden key.
It became a fitting farewell to the sheet enormity of what the series had become, and it was nothing but deserved for its legacy.
Breaking Bad received 14 nominations at the 2014 Emmy Awards, and triumphed in 5 categories.
And amongst these BrBa awards, it was only right that our idol would not be left out, and he won the Emmy for the third time.
FANTASTIC AARON PAUL!
In his speech he thanked the crew for all their support. He thanked his co-star and friend Bryan Cranston. And then made a special speech to his wife Lauren Parsekian:
“And to my wife, my God, thank you for marrying me. Thank you for dedicating your life to spreading kindness and benevolence around the world. We all appreciate it. And if you don’t know what she does, look up ‘Kind Campaign.’ Do yourself a favor and your kids: Kind Campaign.”
After that, his wife’s website just went down. Aaron Paul managed to take down the Kind Campaign website, such was the amount of hits. He’s a phenomenon!
The more I find out about AP the more I admire him. He is amazing, he certainly deserved every one of the nominations and all the awards he received.
Congratulations my idol you are a true star!!
Looking forward to the next works, and we will be here to applaud you.
