Today we celebrate the birthday of Lauren Paul!
We do this naturally because its always so clear from Aaron’s posts just how special this lady is to him. But we also do this because through Aaron, we have discovered over time the amazing work Lauren, alongside Molly Thompson, does with the magnificent Kind Campaign.
So today we celebrate Lauren, and her dedication to spreading kindness in schools that has been sorely lacking for girls in the past, but also for the joy she brings to Aaron, and to their young family.
It may be cliche to think, as fans, we ignore the beauty and grace of the chosen partners. But here at APfans HQ we buck that trend. We are fans of Lauren’s, the fun person she appears to be, and the work she continues to do. It’s always lovely to see the regular ‘Be Kind’ updates and the genuinue change she promotes. Lauren has also been very kind in sharing some quality snaps of Aaron this year (we thank you so much for that!)
So with this opportunity to celebrate Lauren on her happy day, we raise a glass and wish every happiness – and although we are known as Aaron Paul Fans, just know it encompasses all Pauls… (including chickens, bees, peacocks… etc)
Happy Birthday Lauren Paul!
Why is the Kind Campaign so important to us?
The message it sends, the girls it reaches – I think its fair to say that any female who learns about the Kind Campaign can resonate with it’s core mission. My own school days are far, far behind me and there was zero focus on what was a very real problem with girl on girl bullying. I was lucky to have not been a prime target, but I was aware there were girls who came under fire and it was considered just a regular part of school life.
We didn’t have a voice, to object, to complain, to make a difference. To do so would have made you a target. My key strategy was to hide, I was a painfully shy child and in some ways that protected me. It was difficult to bully a child who already bullied themselves for not being like all the cool kids, the bullying I experienced came from the teachers – who made me feel like a problem, who felt I was doing it on purpose (like anyone would chose to be shy!).
But going under the radar, I found that most of my friends were those who were also trying to hide and in most cases it was those being bullied by other girls.
Ever since I first learned of the Kind Campaign I have followed the progress, enjoyed seeing the success. I beleive there are many girls, who go onto be adults but never learn the simple message to ‘be kind’ – these women bring their bullying behaviour into adulthood, into the workplace and it’s simply sad to witness, even sadder that I have witnessed it several times in my working life.
In the UK I’m not aware of similar campaigns but I know there has been great progress made to combat bullying as a whole – and it’s all very welcome. I still believe there is a huge misunderstanding on shy kids, or kids who are not as strong with book learning, and need to channel energies into more creative endeavors to excel but I do know things are a lot better now, than in my day (I’m so old lol!) so I take heart from that.
