The Breaking Bad die cast cars collection is one of the few lines that doesn’t simply ignore Skyler White, yay, and also isn’t just cars, as it does include the RV as well… maybe I should call this section diecast models… hmm oh well, too late 😉
I have always loved diecast cars, so it was never a doubt I’d collect these when I first saw them on ebay. My collection is complete (to the best of my knowledge) but I will confess I have opened the vacumn packaging for some of the models, I really wanted to touch/feel the real models – shoot me!
These cars are made by Greenlight and released at various times between 2015-2020, and really are nice looking things. Available in different sizes, the collection is a perfect display item. I did create my first ever diarama with the loose cars I had obtained, and that takes pride of place on my shelf.
It’s a real shame we didn’t get more cars such as Jesse’s second car, Walt’s car in 1/64 scale, Mike’s car being the obvious omissions. The other thing to note is the RV vehicles are all missing the bullet holes, small detail but something I immediately noticed – saying that love the details they did add such as the green shirt hanging from the side mirror, the larger version has a full cook set up inside! I do try not to be bugged by the Los Pollos Hermanos Truck, where the date of production (2013) is post Breaking Bad era… small oversight by Greenlight there. (Same could be said for the Chrysler but technically the show was still in production in 2012 so willing to let that one pass lol)
Prices really do range from ok-ish to whoa, seriously thats the best way to describe it. Go on ebay and see for yourself, thankfully I was able to pick up all my collection in the ok-ish range, but you have to be patient and wait for those to come up.
UPDATE: In late 2025 Hot Wheels released a Pontiac Aztek Custom that was a particular colour ‘green’ – could we say ugly green? It features a racing number livery. Why have I included this in my Breaking Bad Collection? Simple… the ugly green is the extact same green as Walter White’s car, and a little easter egg is included – if you look on the back shelf of the car, you might see a hat and sunglasses… so while it’s not officially licensed, someone at Hot Wheels is clearly a fan! They have also released the same car in different colours, silver, orange and blue I beleive, all feature the same easter egg.
Additional information – you can further custom the car by safely removing the racing livery, all you need to do is apply black ‘white board’ pen over the race number decor, leave for a few minutes, wipe off and repeat a few times until the racing livery detail is completely erased so you can have an actual mini Walter White Aztek! (see image below for proof!)
