Breaking Bad media is basically the physical media, the actual TV episodes, the box sets. Any sane person who loves Breaking Bad, at most, would have one box set – right? In fact in this day and age, it’s likely a lot of people simply rely on Netflix, it’s on their streaming service (as of July 2025).
Me? Not that simple, so yes… I have a collection of Breaking Bad box sets but it all makes sense, honestly.
Let me take you back to December 2019. Having just finished my 5th viewing of Mr Robot, I had seen enough people say ‘it’s as good as Breaking Bad’/’Not as good as Breaking Bad’ for me to finally decide I need to watch Breaking Bad (there’s other posts I’ve talked more about this). I purchased a good quality cheap second hand copy of the complete Breaking Bad series on DVD.
By the end of Season One I was already hooked, and as a result I wanted a better quality media so I purchased my second box set, this time the blu-ray version. I completed the series, became a die-hard fan and by this point I started to be a collector, so when I saw a nice ‘tin’ box set, I couldn’t resist. This became my third box set, another DVD set.
I had started to collect the consumer challenge coins, but the one I was missing was only available in a box set designed to look like a barrel, it was a lovely looking set and was not cheap… thankfully I was lucky enough to pick it up for an ok-ish price, and soon had my fourth box set.
Someone offered me a full set of the limited edition steel books for each season… a really good price, a fair price and so I soon had my fifth box set. Randomly, I brought a Breaking Bad messenger bag, when it arrived I opened it to find another DVD box set that the seller had thrown in thinking I might appreciate it (I did) and so I now own six complete season box sets.
I also own the US and UK steelbooks of El Camino, simply because the UK realease only had one commentary on, so naturally I had to get the US version, to look at them they look exactly the same and I have no idea why the extras were missing from the UK release!
I would say if you ever get the chance try to own either the tin box set, or the barrel box set – or both (like me) simply because these two sets include the amazing 2 hour documentary that followed the making of the final season, which is an absolute must watch for all Breaking Bad fans.
